Device Driver Acpi Smo8800

New Dell Latitude owners may notice an unknown device in their device manager. Here s how to find out what it is and the solution to what mine was.

My machine is a Dell Latitude E6320 and I am a Windows 7 user.

I have one unknown device showing in my device manager. I have tried to update the driver but windows does not recognize it as well as I am not able to uninstall / remove it.

It worked on my DELL XPS15, L502X

I had searched everywhere for it.

Pity it isn t included in the  L502X Downloads pages, it would have saved a lot of time..

I have the same problem but does this solution apply to a Dell Studio 1745 as well.. I didn t know that it had a free fall sensor as well.

I am adding another thanks to you for the solution provided. After reading your message, before downloading and installing the driver, I went to the Dell page and look at all the drivers for my laptop I also have a Dell XPS 15 L502X and no matter how I looked for it, I could not find it. It is a shame that Dell does not provide a driver for a component they know they placed on the laptop as part of its configuration.

I don t know how did you find out about this driver but it has been of great help for many of us, thank you very much.
